The spirituality of the Jesuits, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola, invites us into a radical relationship with Christ—rooted in discernment, detachment, and a daily choice for God’s greater glory.
For centuries, Jesuits have been forming hearts and minds through prayer, reflection, and courageous missionary work. Whether through silent contemplation or service in the world’s toughest corners, Jesuit saints like St. Francis Xavier, St. Peter Canisius, and St. Alberto Hurtado teach us to find God in all things.
Today, we invite you to take a step into this rich tradition of prayer. Pray with the saints who lived it.
These prayers are part of our new “Pray Like an Ignatian” playlist—exclusively on the Tabella App. Each track is recorded for reflection, along with a bonus interview with a Jesuit priest to deepen your understanding of what it means to live this way.
Beautiful Jesuit Prayers:
Anima Christi – St. Ignatius of Loyola
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever. Amen.
Suscipe – St. Ignatius of Loyola
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding, and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.
Prayer to Know God’s Will – St. Ignatius of Loyola
May it please the supreme and divine Goodness
to give us all abundant grace
ever to know his most holy will
and perfectly to fulfill it.
I Love Thee, God – St. Francis Xavier
I love thee, God, I love thee—
Not out of hope for heaven for me
Nor fearing not to love and be
In the everlasting burning.
Thou, my Jesus, after me
Didst reach thine arms out dying,
For my sake sufferedest nails and lance,
Mocked and marred countenance,
Sorrows passing number,
Sweat and care and cumber,
Yea and death, and this for me,
And thou couldst see me sinning:
Then I, why should not I love thee,
Jesu so much in love with me?
Not for heaven’s sake, not to be
Out of hell by loving thee;
Not for any gains I see;
But just the way that thou didst me
I do love and will love thee.
What must I love thee, Lord, for then?
For being my king and God. Amen.
Wash Me With Your Precious Blood – St. Peter Canisius
See, O merciful God, what return
I, your thankless servant, have made for the innumerable favors and the wonderful love you have shown me!
What wrongs I have done, what good left undone!
Wash away, I beg you, these faults and stains with your precious blood, most kind Redeemer,
and make up for my poverty by applying your merits.
Give me the protection I need to amend my life.
I give and surrender myself wholly to you, and offer you all I possess,
with the prayer that you bestow your grace on me,
so that I may be able to devote and employ all the thinking power of my mind and the strength of my body in your holy service,
who are God blessed for ever and ever. Amen
